House and Barn Burned Near Nace's Store

Fire destroyed a two story house and nearby barn owned by Elias Gobrecht one mile east of Nace's store in West Manheim township York county. Loss about 2000. Origin blamed on a spark from a kitchen cook stove igniting coal oil. Mrs. Gobrecht and family barely escaped. four neighbors witnessed the blaze. Only a few contents survived. Also reports local suicides and fatalities including Mrs. Benjamin Leibert, 48, in South Bethlehem, and the deaths of Dr. Philip R. Welsh and two railroad workers Ernest Norris 31 and Charles Fox 80 in Maryland, with Norris unmarried and Fox leaving a widow and three children.
