Explosion Blows Engine Parts From Touring Car
A car owned by George Philips of York Springs exploded when he tried to start it in a garage owned by Charles A. Cleaver in Huntington township. The blast blew the engine head and two front pistons in pieces, shattered the hood, and damaged the roof. Philips and his two brothers in law Ray and Thomas Cleaver narrowly escaped injury as fragments and burning powder fumes filled the area. Police suspect someone hostile to the owner tampered with the spark plug by adding rock powder.
