Council Discusses Water Supply and Artesian Well Output
At a Feb 15 council meeting President Weaver asked the water committee for the artesian well report. Was 124 Years Old Woman Sold Seven Times in Slavery Dies
Granny Hafford a colored woman aged 124 dies at her Bloomington Indiana home. Born in Richmond Virginia she was sold seven times in slavery owned by George Hafford near Monticello Kentucky when the war began. She came to Bloomington after freedom and supported herself as a house servant for years. She mothered seventeen children but ten were sold before emancipation and she could not trace them.
