Local notices report post office windows closed 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday Washington's Birthday with lobby open, no rural delivery. Banks also closed. Community notes include births and baptisms, weddings, anniversaries, and local meetings.
Notice from Dr. Wilbur H. Miller, president of the Board of Health, urges boiling all water for human consumption until the boroughs water supply is assured adequate and properly controlled. Boil for at least 20 minutes.
Several new scarlet fever cases were reported in New Oxford and nearby areas this past week. Names include David Winebrenner IV Lincolnway East Linda Miller Kenneth C Adams Straban Twp R D 2 and John E Herman Oxford Twp. Water improvements are noted but tests from the State Health Department are pending. residents are urged to boil all drinking water for at least 20 minutes. The council may need to expand the town water supply soon.
Mrs. Paul Chronister of New Oxford dies at 42 from a heart condition with four children and husband Paul Chronister. Charles S. Greenholt of Hanover dies after a long illness leaving nine children and 21 grandchildren. funeral Monday. John Joseph Lawrence, 70, dies at his niece’s home in McSherrystown from a heart condition. he was unmarried. Dr. Charles F. Kuhn, 89, dies in Port Townsend, Washington. survived by a half brother and four half sisters. Continuous notice continued on Page 5.

Three cars were damaged in a collision at the intersection of Elm avenue and an alley between Main street McSherrystown and Linden avenue Monday evening at 5 15 oclock. No one was hurt. Chief of Police Manard Masemer of McSherrystown investigated. Milton Weaver of Littlestown R D 2 drove west on Elm avenue tried to pass a car stopped along the street. The Weaver car swerved left into two cars driven by Charles R Gouker of Hanover and Ambrose Young of McSherrystown as they halted before entering Elm avenue from the alley. Estimated damage was 35 to the Weaver car, 35 to the Gouker car, and 50 to the Young car.

Mrs. S. F. Swope of Gettysburg has arrived in Honolulu to be with her elder daughter Mrs. W. J. Johnson who is critically ill with a serious blood infection. The journey began last Wednesday from Gettysburg via Washington, California, then across the Pacific after a call from Commander W. J. Johnson of the U S Navy requesting naval medical specialists. A Monday telegram said Mrs. Johnson is as well as can be expected.
Automobiles driven by Paul Kuhn 22 Gettysburg Route 5 and Robert Spalding 21 Gettysburg Route 1 collided on the Bonneauville Littlestown road one mile from Bonneauville at 4 30 p m Tuesday state police reported Kuhn said a tire went flat before the crash Damage to Kuhn 150 and to Spalding 125 Police will file a charge of failing to yield one half of the highway against Kuhn
