Miss Marion Beyenour Kohler's to South Carolina for milliner job. Several locals visit relatives, travel to Baltimore, Philadelphia, or Columbus for business.

Third Marley fever case prompts college wide quarantine

A third scarlet fever case at Gettysburg College prompts a modified college wide quarantine. Walter Hill and William Flickinger are isolated in infirmaries and McKnight Hall is quarantined after a second case. the Gibson, Indiana victim, Wilbur, remains cared for as the dormitory is released. Revenue agent F W Smith will tour Adams County towns February 24 to March 10 to assist with income tax returns.

Arm Bitten by Horse at Bethlehem Quarries

James Laughman of Bittinger backing a horse to load stone at Bethlehem quarries last week had his right arm severely lacerated when the enraged animal bit him. He may have severed ligaments and cannot fully move some fingers. He is recovering under Dr. T C Miller of Abbottstown.

Miss Mildred Pittenturf of North Peters street thanks friends for kind remembrance on St. Valentine’s Day. The shower included cut flowers potted plants fruit and over 200 valentines and cards. Starting Thursday Serg Terry of the Chambersburg recruiting office will tour New Oxford East Berlin Abbottstown and Vittlestown to enlist men in the Army.

Mrs Mary E Mummert Dies After Illness in Abbottstown

Mrs Mary E Mummert aged 56 years 10 months and 9 days died at 7 30 PM Wednesday after a year long illness from Brights disease and uraemic poisoning She was a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Maish Heilman Her husband Samuel S Mummert survives with children Emory Sterner Mrs Guy A Staub Nettie Mummert David Trimmer and others Funeral plans were not completed and interment will be in the Reformed cemetery Abbottstown

Young Girl Discharged on Bond Theft Charge

Miss Mary Gutermuth, arrested in Harrisburg for stealing a $50 Liberty bond from John Hiker of Gettysburg, was discharged at a Thursday hearing due to lack of evidence. Hiker testified he gave the bond and sought repayment via a note but presented no proof of theft. Constable Wilson was the only other witness. Father Raphael and Father J A Huber will lead Forty Hours devotion services starting Sunday morning.

Services Honor Two Soldier Dead in Lutheran Memorial

Impressive service marked demobilizing of the service flag and a memorial for two soldiers who died in service. At First Lutheran church a large crowd attended despite sickness and bad roads. Restaurant Change Hands in Warner Building Sale

Tilden Myers of Lincoln Waw ust purchases the Cen hat Baquare restaurant, its goodwill and fixtures in the Warner building, and will take possession March 1. He will keep his decorating business. Myers and family will reside above the restaurant while Grogs and family move to Linehore Md to aid his father on the farm. Chili Slagle and family will occupy the Myers home.

West High street resident Paul Swamiley is a patient at Ft. McHenry hospital with the loss of sight in his right eye from an August explosion at Aberdeen Proving Ground. He returned home last week and expects discharge soon.

Washington Birthday Service at M E Church Feb 22

A Washington birthday service will be held at the M E church Sunday evening February 22 with a special sermon by the Rev Brunstetter.
