Ralph S Rebert 69, retired farmer of New Oxford R2, died Tuesday at Heenoner General. Survived by wife Lie A Yohe Reber and several children and inlaws. Funeral Friday at Ouerhem A B church with two ministers officiating. Also George Franklin Rabenstine 66 of Hanover died at Hanover General hospital, former Bethlehem Steel employee. Survived by wife Sara Smith Rabenstine and three brothers. Burial at York Road cemetery. Margie E Trostle 67 of Gettysburg died Sunday at Kuhn’s convalescent home New Oxford from multiple illnesses. She worked for Trestle Dress and Start factory, member of St James Lutheran. Burial at Evergreen cemetery after 1:30 pm service at Bender funeral home.
The Nu-Ox Rod and Gun Club selected officers for 1950 led by President Ben Alwine and Vice President A. W. Rohr iboush. Ed. recording secretary, James Rivers financial secretary, Cyril Rickrode treasurer, and Raymond Long as trustee. Mrs. W. D. Himes of Lincoln is improving satisfactorily.
The Simpson Machine and Welding Company of Gettysburg designed a 32 by 22 foot all steel portable building weighing 7000 pounds. It can be erected in four hours and dismantled in about three, with a single piece over 100 pounds. The frame goes up first then siding roof and doors are bolted on. When taken down bolts are removed and the unit rides on a ton and a half truck in one load. It was built for Williams Paving on the Penna Turnpike extension to serve as a repair shop and is praised for portability and low cost.
About 100 women from 10 of 13 parish councils and affiliated groups attended the Conewase Deanery Convent of Catholic Women meeting at St. Alsous hall in Litlestown. Guest speaker Jose Lo Crebbs Jr urged devotion to Christ and cited Catholic publications as a guide, closing with a Teddy Roosevelt quote. The gathering opened with prayer to Our Lady of Good Counsel led by Rt. Rev. Msgr. Patrick.
Fred G. Klunk of Acams county Democratic committee led a 2 nerr rally in Philadel phia to back Senator Francis J. Myers seeking re election. Klunk toured with district leaders and announced a 67 county meet the people campaign planned to start around April 1.
H Earl Pitzer of Aspers announces his candidacy for the Republican nomination for the state legislature from Adams County. A 38 year old farmer and fruit grower active in the truck business for about 20 years, he is a member of the Elks Moose Eagles and Biglerville fire company. He previously lost GOP bids for sheriff and state legislature but has long been active in local politics.
Maunce N Berman and William A Sanders plan a March opening for New Oxford Furniture at 333 Lencoizay West New Oxford in the former Sitouga Garage site. The store will offer furniture and General Electric appliances with a rear service shop. A rain opening prize is promised and local staff ties noted.
