In a second trial, Mrs. Mary Menchey of Hanover R5 faces charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and receiving stolen goods. Family Of 12 Homeless After Sunday Blaze

A Sunday afternoon fire near Bonneauville left the Miller family of twelve homeless. Damage was about 7000 dollars. Mr and Mrs Francis L Miller and their ten children were at Mass earlier then in the living room watching television when smoke alarmed them. Immediate aid arrived from Red Cross with clothing and furnishings. food and bed clothing still needed. The fire was detected around 1 pm on the second floor as smoke seeped through cracks in plaster.

David P Hykes of Hampton Dies at 68

David Peter Hykes 68 of New Oxford Route 1 died Saturday at Hanover Hospital after several years of ill health. A Reading native, he was son of the late John and Flora Bell Hykes and a St John’s Lutheran Church member in Hampton. He served multiple terms on the church council and led the Hampton Cemetery Association. He belonged to the York Springs Odd Fellows.

J Hayes Herman Dies Suddenly at 79 in York Springs Area

J Hayes Herman 79 of Fairfield died Monday at 2 PM at the Mary Jane Inn near York Springs while moving from Fairfield to the Inn. Coroner Dr C G Crist ruled coronary occlusion. A retired farmer, he had been living with his son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs Francis Dayhoff of Fairfield since his wife Sylvia Mae Weigle died March 12 195. Continues on page 3.

Community dinners and sales line weekend events

A series of church suppers bake sales and a winter festival are listed for upcoming weekends. Events include a Penna Dutch supper at Salem EUB Church in Gulden's Station, a bake sale and chicken corn sale at First Lutheran Church in New Oxford, and a Winter Festival in Conewazo Chavel hall with seafood and chicken or ham dinners. Further plans include a roast turkey ham supper at Lutheran Parish Hall in Hampton and a George Washington turkey supper by Zwings United Church of Christ in New Chester, plus a baked ham supper by St John’s Reformed Church in New Chester. Prices range from 30 to 65 cents for children and up to about $1.25 for adults.
