Father and son Lerew charged with arson in Brushtown
William Lerew age 24 and Cornelius Lerew 66 of Biglerville were arrested by state police on arson charges for setting fire to an abandoned schoolhouse in Brushtown on January 14. Fire started in a closet under stairs, with kerosene and coal oil found. both deny the charges. The two were jailed in Gettysburg as investigations continue.

NYA Plans Aim to Employ Youth With Game Feeding Project
Dr. N M Grier of Lebanon and Prof John Sheffer met in Gettysburg to discuss NYA projects for youths ages 16 to 25. A game feeding project seeks final NYA Philadelphia approval to employ county youths to distribute state supplied feed and build feeders and shelters. The plan targets birds and animals amid heavy snows, under a deputy game warden, with March 15 as end date. NYA also plans high school aid for 54 students at six dollars monthly and to establish youth centers, recreational programs, arts and crafts, health and sanitation education, and safety campaigns. Registrations for NYA positions are being taken at the Weaver building Center Square.

Hanover Man Held For April Court
Herman A. McIntyre, 24, of 1 North Street Hanover, was held for April court after a hearing before Justice L. G. Kuhn in Conewago township. With $1,000 bail default, he was returned to county jail. McIntyre is charged with stealing 11 chickens from William H. Rife, Conewago township, and had been questioned by Hanover police Tuesday. Rife says McIntyre admitted the theft but he has not signed a plea of guilty.

Four Vehicles in Sunday Accident Near White Hill
Four vehicles were tangled in a Sunday afternoon crash on the Gettysburg pike near White Hill. Edward Snellbaker of Dillsburg driving toward Harrisburg slowed to pass a truck owned by Charles Reed of Waverly Maryland when the truck skidded into his car. Earl Mauss of York Springs tried to pass Snellbaker and struck the truck head on. A New York car behind Mauss also skidded into the wreck.
