The Christian Endeavor society of Redeemer's Reformed Church Lit tlestown will hold a Valentine Scholar in the lecture room of the church this Thursday evening.
Executors of John E Hoff announce a public sale on the premises in Mt Pleasant Township Adams County. Real estate 14 acres 156 perches with a two story dwelling barn and outbuildings. Personal property includes horses wagons hay tools harness and household goods. Sale starts at noon with terms announced by the executors.
In the primary room at Green Springs school fifteen boys and eleven girls had perfect attendance. Boys 95 percent and girls 96 percent attended. The Borough of New Oxford Adams County Pennsylvania enacts a 1930 tax levy. General borough tax set at 13 mills. Sinking fund No 1 tax of 1 mill covers interest and state taxes on the 1913 bond issue and bond redemption. Enacted February 4 1930. Attest Borough Secretary. Burgess confirms February 10 1930.
Adams county court of common pleas appointed board meets at D E Winebrenner Jr property to assess benefits and damages from a sanitary sewer extension in Conewagh township. Members R E Wible P S Orner Herman H H Beamer present with Hanover officials. hearing tentatively set for Feb 25 at Gettysburg courthouse.
Albert H. Shettel of the Pennsylvania department of labor investigated Hanover for children employed before 6 a.m. on milk and baker wagons and newspaper routes. He warned that unless the practice stops, prosecutions will follow. minors must be 14, not work before 6 a.m. or after 9 p.m., limited to 51 hours weekly, and require a school certificate.
Irvin Rider of McSherrystown lost on points to William Kealer of Harrisburg in a four round bout at Gettysburg arena on Wednesday evening. Saw mill operations in Mark Breams timberland at Gardners closed for one day in January during a record low of zero degrees. W K Myers, mill owner, enjoys Florida sun while foreman Levi Coulson continues the business.
Letters testamentary granted for Ella Swamsby late of New Oxford Adams county. Executors request all debts to be paid and claims presented promptly by February 13, 196? at 1615 Derry St Harrisburg PA to executor John M Swamley.
Mrs. George Hughes of Gettysburg suffered a painful left hand injury when her hand was caught between the lower wringer and the iron frame of a power washing machine. She dragged the washer across the kitchen to reach a telephone for help, and neighbors helped release her after about fifteen minutes. A physician said no bones were broken and one finger was split.
Morgan Smeltzer an 18 year old York youth died Thursday night at York hospital from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident Monday. He rode tandem on George Ulrich s machine when Ulrich turned to check on the other pair the cycle skidded on snow and struck a culvert throwing Smeltzer to the road face down Ulrich also fell but was bruised. Both were taken to York hospital.

President Pascual Ortiz Rubio telegraphed his sons in Gettysburg that his condition is entirely satisfactory with no cause for alarm. The sons, Fernando and Guillermo Rubio, were in a Gettysburg theater when word of the attempt reached them, and a long distance message followed from Mexico City. In Emmitsburg, Mount St Mary’s Junior basketball beat St. Mary’s of McSherrystown 20 to 15, and a $500 card party was planned in McSherrystown for the fire company fundraiser.
