Charles R Philips, longtime East Berlin educator, has begun duties as elementary supervisor for the Bermudian Springs Joint School System. His offices are in the East Berlin building. A 1924 East Berlin High School graduate, Philips' sixth grade duties are taken by Elmer Miller, a Gettysburg College graduate. Miller and his family moved from Littlestown to the Elda Kling property on W King St. Floyd McMillan, another mid semester Gettysburg College graduate, has begun teaching science and social studies at East Berlin.
The Rev. Robert H. Rezash and James W. Jackson 3rd lead charges at Emmanuel Hampton Mt. Olivet Bermudian St. John's New Chester and Zwingli East Berlin with worship times and church schools. St. Pauls mission study on Japan. Deacons and elders to be ordained at Mt. Olivet and Zwingli. Meetings set for Monday to Wednesday including consistory and junior fellowship sessions.
C David Redding, 17, Gettysburg R 4, son of Mr and Mrs Carroll Redding and grandson of Mrs Robert Borden, won two golds and a bronze among more than 2 000 youths statewide. He led five Gettysburg High FFA golds at Pennsylvania State University with 500 laying hens and five farm enterprises. Bronze for small grains. the medal system placed top five golds, next five silvers, and 11th to 15th bronze. Continued on Page 2.

Letters to supervisors received no replies. law allows petitions from residents or courts if townships fail to act. Cemeteries named include Old Low Dutch Pine Bank Round Hill Black’s and Episcopal. Doris Bream a 16 year old York Springs High pupil was discharged from Carlisle Hospital and uses crutches. Her sister Patsy 14 remains in critical condition while Phyllis 12 died from injuries the night of January 10. Mother Mrs Bream to undergo surgery for a slipped disc. Driver Russell Yeagy 16 also hospital patient with hip fracture and upcoming jaw operation.

Dillsburg firemen extinguished a chimney fire at Cletus E. Carr’s home east of York Springs. Damage was slight. They also put out a fire at William S. Strayer saw mill in Clear Springs caused by welding sparks dropping into sawdust, resulting in about 300 dollars in damage.

The Rev. Harold R. Stoudt of Upperco Maryland has accepted a call to Trinity Lutheran Church East Berlin effective April 7. Trinity elected him December 29. he and his family move into the church parsonage on York Street. He comes from Upperco parish which includes St. Paul’s Arcadia and Christ Church Trenton, and has held several Lutheran posts since 1954. He is active as fire company chaplain and church servant, with a strong record in synod committees and evangelism. His wife Anna Foldes has held leadership roles in church women’s groups and hospital admissions.
