A parade of names shows residents returning from New Jersey work, visits with relatives in York and Philadelphia, and numerous trips to military camps and training centers. Several young men receive commissions at Fort Oglethorpe and Fort Pike, with others awaiting examinations in infantry and aviation corps.
City council met to review street repairs and utilities. Actions include fixing West Golden Lane, purchasing equipment, repairing leaks, billing utilities for taxes, loan and note approvals, and fines policy clarification. Bills totaling 374.23 approved with 159.97 for Miller case costs.

Jacob Melhorn of McSherrystown sold land to John W. Kluck the plumber. W P Stoner of Hanover sold a 19 acre Union township farm near Littlentown to Howard Diehl of Carroll County Md. Hollinger & Bro sold a 103 acre Hamilton township farm for Norman Z Reinecker to Joseph H Halep of Hanover. Possession April lat. Mrs P L Houck’s residence at 10 Gettysburg sold to Miss Marie Everhart for 2700. C C Brown sold property to East Berlin resident Joseph Oberlander near Holtzschwam. Private terms. H C Stock of New Oxford Milling had a lap robe stolen in Hanover. Joseph Holts slaughtered a 405 pound dressed porker on Lincoln Way. Clarence Kopp opened a grocery in the G F Bender building at McSherrystown.
Jacob Reynold son of Edward Reynold of Abbottstown severely burned on left hand while cleaning his automobile. Gasoline on his hand ignited, with Dr T C Miller of Abbottstown dressing the injury. William Frock of McSherrystown resigns as conductor on the H and McS Street Railway to become agent for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co replacing W R Humbert who resigned.
British byng forces repulse another counter attack at Bourlon wood and high ground near Cambrai. French and British troops reach the northern arene to aid Italy against Austro German forces. Italians hold between the Bretna and the Piave as massed enemy attacks are repelled along the front.
Petrograd dispatch says Germany consents to immediate talks for armistice on all fronts. A conference is set for December 2. British troops face stubborn resistance near Cambrai with heavy fighting at Fontaine Notre Dame and Bourlon. Austro-German forces press new offensives against Italian positions in the Brenta Piave area.
Thursday notes show Bolsheviks seeking armistice gaining German approval with a Sunday conference set. British and German forces clash on the Bourlon-Fontsine Notre Dame line as Cambrai operation continues. Italian front reports anti allied actions near Aviona in Albania. Friday highlights American engineers aiding the Cambrai push and fresh Allied air forces arriving in France. Saturday coverage details German efforts to break Cambrai salient with heavy fighting and British withdrawal as Byne’s victory looms.
Barlin reports describe German forces under Rupprecht attempting an encirclement to check Byng’s advance near Cambrai. Britons countered, defending villages Graincourt Anneux Cantaing Gouhen and Villers-Guislain while suffering heavy casualties. German forces launched a second heavy attack in the Cambrai region with about twenty divisions. They entered La Vacquerie and Masnieres but were driven back or contained as British re-enforcements stabilized the line. British withdrawals were orderly as they fell back toward Villiers-Guislain while German claims reported around 6000 British prisoners taken.
Reading baker George W. Rudolph died at age sixty in a local restaurant. The state industrial board plans a December 11 meeting in Philadelphia to review codes. Phoenixville faces a shortage of three sub mail carriers and may hire women if men cannot be found.

A Lancaster County Pa Aerocorps contingent left for Kelly Aviation camp Fort Sam Houston Texas to train. Among the travelers is Joseph F Stokes son of General William Hensey an air officer of the Revolutionary War.
