Two Stables Destroyed by Fire in Gettysburg
About 8 o clock Monday evening fire destroyed two stables in Gettysburg. The stable of Mrs. Mary Menchey on South Washington street burned with its contents including a hog, reaper, horse rake, two horse wagon, prows, barrows, and straw. The adjacent stable belonging to Louis Kumerant was also consumed though smaller and empty. A strong southerly wind blown but snow on adjoining roofs helped prevent a larger blaze. Cause of the fire could not be learned.

Former Hanoverian Killed On North Carolina Rail Line
Augustus Zuse of York aged about his years was struck by a passenger train near College Ave in York Monday at about 6 pm. His body was mangled, the remains scattered along 190 feet of track and later taken to the almshouse for identification. He worked at the York paper mills and was returning home to an invalid wife and several children after a day’s labor. He had lived in Hanover years ago.
