Fred McLean known as Sailor Kid Mack received 7 to 19 years for second degree murder in the August York party killing of Peggy Larue. Arthur Jordan, convicted of first degree murder for shooting Wiley Fells on October 19, 1928, was sentenced to death by electric chair.

Bechtel to plead guilty in Adams county court
Daniel Bechtel of near Littlestown has waived a hearing on illegal possession of intoxicating liquors and is in Gettysburg jail. Justice Hill expects Bechtel to plead guilty when he appears before the Adams county court later this month. Miss Mariah Cromer of Abbottstown was injured in her father’s garage when she fell on a sled striking her chin on a chopping machine, needing three stitches. Dr. T. C. Miller treated the wound and she attended school the next day. Maynard D. Crouse of Hanover, son of Mr and Mrs Charles A. Crouse, plans to study at the Studebaker auto school in South Bend Ind. The Colonel's Maid, a farce comedy in three acts, will be repeated by the Aspers Fire Company at Fruit Growers Hall, Bendersville, Saturday at 7 30. H J Tressler McSherrystown has become a candy maker salesman for Alvonus in Waynesboro.
