Letters from the county superintendent announced the eighty first annual county teachers institute to be held at Gettysburg high school on September 2 and 3. Chief instructors are F H Gaige of Millersville State Teachers College and Dorothy Ful dheim of Cleveland Heights. Enrollment runs August 28 to September 1 with a $3 fee granting institute access and benefits. teachers receive $4 a day for attendance.

Sheriff Sells 2 County Farms at Public Auction
Two county farms were disposed of at sheriff's sale on the courthouse steps. Deputy Sheriff B E Bixler acted as auctioneer. The 98 acre Stover property in Franklin township sold to the Federal Land Bank of Baltimore for 1900 dollars. Lightning Fire Destroys Biddle Barn Near Gettysburg
A barn on Reuben Biddle’s farm four miles east of Gettysburg was leveled by a lightning fire during a severe storm Saturday evening. About 60 bushels of wheat and farm equipment were lost, with damage estimated around 3000 dollars partly insured. Biddle and his son Clyde escaped injury, but the elder collapsed briefly. Clyde aided in saving cattle and horses. Firefighters faced delays reaching the blaze due to crowded roads.
