Fire Destroys Home Near Gettysburg After Chimney Blaze
A fire believed started by a defective chimney completely destroyed the brick home of J W Hefling at Gettysburg R5 Strathar township near Hanover road. The fire, fanned by strong wind, consumed most furniture and clothing for Heflin and his six children, with losses estimated around 1000 dollars and little insurance on the furniture. The Gettysburg fire company fought the blaze while the barn and other buildings were saved. Mrs Goldie Heflin collapsed during the height of the fire and received medical attention.
