Car Sideswipe Near Gettysburg Involves Eckenrode Baume
A sedan driven by John H. Eckenrode of Gettysburg and a truck driven by Carl W. Baumgardner of Emmitsburg collided on the Emmitsburg road two miles south of Gettysburg at 2 45 am Sunday. Eckenrode faced possible charges for driving on the wrong side of the highway. no injuries and about 55 dollars in damage were reported. Patrolman Warren investigated.

Major Calvin Gilbert of Gettysburg, oldest native-born resident, received the Loyal Legion’s gold star on the eve of his 96th birthday. A Civil War veteran, he served with the 87th Pennsylvania and later as a captain, earning a Lincoln brevet and long Air Masons membership. He is the last surviving Blues and Company F member. He plans to venture out when weather improves.
