A major sale of state lands and timber in Valencia and McKinley Counties is scheduled for August six. It features 99 914 54 acres at a minimum 315 per acre and 450 000 000 feet of timber at 215 per thousand, totaling at least 1 382 230 280. The sale will occur in four tracts with bidding open to purchasers, and the state guarantees the minimum totals.
The criminal case against Major John M. Birkner in Federal court was continued until the fall term. The indictment with four counts was demurred to and three counts eliminated for improper charging under the statute. The U.S. Attorney will present to the next grand jury to secure a new indictment. The Interac robat ic track meet held in Albuquerque Saturday was won by Roswell with a score of 65 to 0 against Albuquerque and other teams. The declamatory contest crowned Miss Clara Berchfeld for The Soul of a Violin, with Grace Preese second. the oratorical contest went to Rennie Hite, with Pant Cetlen of Roswell as runner up. Prizes were watch fobs and gold medals.
The four mills in New Mexico could triple flour output by reducing downtime and adopting better methods under stable pricing. They could cut costs and beat it by milling at full capacity, with government support. Settlers near White Lakes show prospects for crops, wells, and a new school funded by state aid if possible.

The MORA Splendid Work Boy Scouts drive in Roy raised 4850 in bond sales led by Lester Floersheim with 285000. Cravens Plum- Tee followed with 145am tephen Russell 3rd with 25000, Kenneth Hall and Benny Branch each 150.00, while thrift stamps added another hundred dollars.
Mountain Park and Highrolls orchards are in full bloom and promise a large apple crop after years of poor yields. Cherries and other fruits also look good. Cadwallader and Gilbert Walker orchards loom large, creating impressive blooms observed by Alamogordo News. Cattle shipments: W R Franklin from El Paso moved twenty cars from Lobo to Brand pasture, eight left here. remaining twelve to Obear for pasture. Coggins shipped 542 cattle to Clements, Eureka, Hamilton, and DeCraph Kansas. received five cars from Dobbs Robbinson Casa Grande AZ.
The city council at a special session bought a Fairbanks Morse 100 horsepower air engine and dynamo for the light plant. Immediate shipment was promised and delivery expected in two to three weeks. Total cost around $1,000 with a prior $2,000 cash payment on a smaller unit. $400 was raised from local business men to loan the town for up to six months to cover further payments and installation.

A new cement sidewalk has been laid to the Allen Hotel from the corner of the picture chow hall on Main Street. Mr. Allen is doing things up right in this end of town as reported by Farmington Enterprise.
The Topeka time card conference has decided that no through trains on the main line will be netted and Albuquerque to El Paso services may lose one train. No definite eliminations beyond that, with details continuing as reports arrive. Meanwhile New Mexico fishermen are urged to secure licenses early as season runs June 1 to November 25 for residents and up to November 30 for non-residents.
