Navajo man charged with killing his two children
Salt Lake City AP report states Anderson Black, a Navajo man, faces two counts of first degree murder for slitting the throats of his 3 year old son Dakota Iron hawk Black and 1 year old daughter Nicole Gentlehawk Black to avenge an affair. He drove from Salt Lake City to Monument Valley to find the lover but killed his children when unable to locate him. He confessed to neighbors, smoked, then lay with the bodies. He claims he killed to be with them forever in heaven. His blood alcohol was 0.184 at arrest. niece required 28 stitches. He awaits federal court Monday. Navajo Nation lacks death penalty.

Ryan Lee Tietjen, 27, of Ramah, pleaded guilty in Albuquerque federal court to possessing and carrying a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. He admitted possession with intent to distribute less than five grams of cocaine base and under 50 grams of meth, with a 9 mm Taurus pistol found in Grants on June 4. He faces at least five years and fines up to $250,000. investigation by ATF.

Drexel to be canonized Sunday in Vatican City
Katharine Drexel will be canonized as a saint this Sunday in Vatican City for miracles after her death. She founded St. Michaels School in Widow Rock in 1902, expanding to 400 students, and built 48 missions and 65 schools across the East Gulf Coast and Southwest. Drexel funded education with an inherited $20 million, helped Native Americans and African Americans, and founded the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament in Philadelphia. Her path to sainthood includes beatification after a deaf Philadelphia teen regained hearing, and a second miracle attributed to her.
