Criminal complaints against 88 delegates of the 21st Navajo Nation Council allege misuse of discretionary funds. Vice President Beir Shelly and 20th Council delegate are named among those charged. arraignments continue next week with pretrial conferences in January. The list names Kiely Acothiley, Larry Mirderson and others in conspiracy, fraud, theft, forgery, and related offenses, with fund totals ranging from 680 to 279175 dollars.

Woman robbed at Bank of America parking lot
A woman in her 40s was robbed by a masked man in Gallup as she exited her maroon 2008 GMC extended cab pickup in the bank west parking lot. The robber, in his 20s and 5 feet tall, forced her to the ground and took the money she carried. Deputy Chief John Alley noted witnesses were present and the amount stolen was not disclosed.

Early voting gains pace in Gallup County
Gallup County voters have surged to over 2,600 early votes as election officials report higher than usual turnout. County election director Rick Palochak notes 520 absentee ballots sent out and 320 returned, with three early voting sites open through Friday and Saturday before Tuesday’s election.
