Identity Theft Report Stuns Gallup Veteran Leader
GALLUP Whit a Gallup Police detective visited Ronnie Brittain about a month ago to tell him his identity was stolen. A man named Bobby Thompson, calling himself Commander Thompson, previously held an Indiana ID in Brittain’s name and listed him as commander of the U S Navy Veterans Group. Brittain, longtime Disabled American Veterans Division commander for New Mexico, says the fraud hijacked his Social Security number and records.

Gallup Chamber Renovation Underway At $79,000 Bid
Gallup McKinley Chamber of Commerce, with 300 plus members, is renovating both interior and exterior of its 106 West Historic Highway 66 building. Blue Sky Builders won the $79,000 bid for work including stucco, windows, doors, landscaping, heating and cooling, new lighting, carpet, tile, and paint, with completion targeted by late October. The plan to build a new facility with city help and a $580,000 state grant was dropped due to a state budget rule.
