Green Power Day teaches Gallup Girl Scouts skills
Five hundred girls from the Gallup area and Navajo Reservation attended a day long Green Power program at Red Rock State Park. Sessions covered car maintenance, first aid including the Heimlich, hypothermia awareness, babysitting basics, and a glamour girl grooming track. Proceeds from fry bread sales fund the Juliette Lowe World Friendship Fund.

Albert J. Marsh of Gallup was released on $5,000 bond after arrest on charges of distributing more than 100 pounds of marijuana and conspiracy to distribute. Indictments tied Marsh, ex McKinley County Sheriff Harold R Bass, and Gilbert Delgado to a May 13 seizure of 600 pounds of marijuana near Thoreau. Marsh faced bond reduction from $10,000. investigation linked to a private plane registered to Marsh and a truck to Sheriff Bass.

The body of 17 year old Raymond Talamante was found inside a burned 1978 Buick in an alley between Coal and Aztec Avenues. He was taken to the state medical examiner to determine death. Police questioned partygoers as investigations continue with other weekend accidents and thefts reported.

San Juan Scrubber Dedicated at Farmington

Repair Work Nearing End
FARMINGTON Eastern Bureau Repairs one unit two of the San Juan Generating plant here should be completed this week according to Public Service Company of New Mexico officials. The unit shut down since last Wednesday after an electrical short caused a fire. About 5 000 feet of cable will have to be replaced or spliced. A 300 person repair crew works in three shifts around the clock. The fire sent 58 workers to San Juan Medical Center. one in fair condition in ICU. The plant has previously shut unit two for ten months after a July 1972 explosion.
