Dylmer Yazzie, who served as a delegate for Many Farms and Rough Rock from 1999 to 2003 on the 19th Navajo Nation Council, has died of natural causes, according to the Office of the Speaker.
Police say an unidentified Native American man was found beaten to death in the 700 block of Ambrosia Drive Milan. The body lay face up on the west side of the street and appears dragged. A hearing date was set for the restraining order filed by Navajo Nation President Joe Shirley Jr against the Navajo Nation Board of Election Supervisors. The temporary order was issued Sept 25 to keep a referendum off the Nay2 general election ballot, a move that drew swift backing and opposition. The Navajo Nation Council had passed legislation to refer the referendum in July.
