Roommates died in gun incident amid drinking spree

Vanderwagen men Jon Chee, 21, and Jairus Francisco, 27, were found dead outside a trailer after an incident tied to a Glock demonstration. A friend said the victims had been drinking beer and were handling guns. Chee was reportedly in the service and may have faced deployment to Afghanistan.

Gallup schools approve athlete drug testing policy

The Gallup McKinley County School Board approved a six page student athlete drug testing policy drafted by the Ambassadors for Change with help from the Gallup Police Department. Plan calls for pilot and random testing at Miyamura and Gallup high schools starting in the 2012 2013 school year. Senior Colt Belok says the policy aims to help students rather than punish them and to encourage treatment for those who test positive.

Murder trial opens in Colleen Lincoln case in Gallup

Independent correspondent Bill Donovan reports the murder trial of Larita Smith began in 11th Judicial District Court Judge Grant Foutz's courtroom. Smith and two co defendants face charges linked to the Dec 23 2010 killing and robbery that left Lincoln's burned body found Feb 16 south of Arnold Street.
