Shiprock Naval Fair Aims to Close With Ye i Bi Chei Ceremony
The 97th Annual Shiprock Naval Fair runs Sept 26 to Oct 3 in Shiprock New Mexico. The Ye i Bi Chei healing ceremony begins with the grand finale on Oct 2 and features Miss Northern Navajo, Eldertest and baby pageants. Roy Lester, a White Cone medicine man, leads the Ye i Bi Chei rites as the festival honors Ye i deities and the fall healing tradition for Diné people facing vision and thinking health issues.
