Stings Target Sales to Minors in Gallup Area
McKinley County Sheriff’s deputies conducted weekend stings targeting adults believed to sell alcohol and cigarettes to underage buyers. Cadets under 21 approached stores in a parking lot, yielding three alcohol-sale citations, one DWI arrest, and one bench warrant. Across six weeks, 50 to 60 people were cited for buying alcohol for minors. an 11-year-old girl purchased tobacco at three of 22 area stores. A DWI checkpoint on Highway 602 and a saturation patrol produced three arrests and 28 minor alcohol citations as part of the statewide Super blitz to curb underage drinking.

Grants man indicted on battery and school employee assault
A grand jury indicted Ranell Ramirez, 28, of Grants, on battery upon a school employee and two counts of assault upon a school employee for an altercation with Mesa View Elementary School employee Tammie Chavez on March 6. Also indicted were Brenda Willeto, 23, of Sun Ray Apartments, on charges of shoplifting over 250 dollars, receiving stolen property over 250 dollars and disposing of stolen property worth more than 250 dollars.
