Gallup High School caps 400 graduates in ceremony

Hundreds gathered at Gallup Public School Stadium as Gallup High School awarded diplomas to more than 400 seniors Friday evening. Principal Mike Butkovich read a student poem honoring Matt Padilla while Crystal Cox shared life lessons and senior reflections. Aldrich noted the four year journey from freshman to graduate as the class celebrated hard work and memories.

Gas prices erratic in Gallup confusion breaks

Gasoline prices in Gallup on Friday ranged from 1.459 to 1.599 per gallon for regular un leaded, a spread puzzling local distributors. Mike Mataya of Texaco Distributing questioned how anyone could sell gasoline at 1.459, noting station managers meeting earlier that day. See Gas prices, page2.

Tuba City road work to start early

Arizona State Transportation Board moved 500000 in design funds to next year for a 3 million dollar two mile expansion of Route 264 near Tuba City. Project adds lanes near Van's Trading Post, upgrades drainage along US 160, and removes a pedestrian overpass to widen shoulders. Work begins after June 1 2003 with no Navajo or Hopi reservation contracts.
