Fort Wingate Elementary celebrates over 30 years of history as graduation ceremonies at Fort Wingate High School honor two scholarship recipients Shaun Gray and Jay C. McCray. The $250 awards come after four years of Parent Advisory Council effort led by PAC Vice President John McCray and Principal Dianne Owens notes historic support from lower grade parents.

Continen tal Divide Crash Claims Woman and Injures Others
An Iyanbito woman died when her vehicle failed to yield and collided with another at State Road 122 and County Road 61. Diane King, 41, was killed. her husband Sy Shetima, 40, is in critical condition after a flight to Albuquerque. Their children Travis, 12, and Bryan, 15, were treated and released. Ancie Jameson, 50, of Ivanbito, fled the scene and had not been caught. Police suspect alcohol. the crash occurred around 10:30 p m on Wednesday. The other driver, Thomas Wilson, 60, of Marion Lake, reported no injuries.

Chinle to gain state funds for road turn lane project
Diné Bureau reports WINDOW ROCK Arizona moves toward funding for capital improvements in Chinle under the Economic Strength Project. Arizona contributes 101230 dollars, plus 79659 from a businessman, to finance a turn lane into a three acre site on U S 191 near BIA Route 7. Earnest Becenti Jr will provide Navajo Nation share for a 2.3 million project including a convenience store gas station and Kentucky Fried Chicken.
