Navajo Nation Ethics and Rules Committee holds an administrative hearing at 9 a.m. May 22 to address Ruby Cleveland charged with 38 counts of unauthorized personal use of tribal funds totaling 16 044, alleged from July 22 1998 to Sept 27 1999. Earlier this year the committee voided three Aneth Chapter officers for similar offenses and ordered paybacks plus bans from office for five years. A Feb 15 special election cost was taxed to Lee and Rockwell.

Grants Grand Jury Indicts Hobbs in Stolen Property Case
A Cibola County grand jury indicted Kenneth Hobbs 20 on one count of receiving stolen property, conspiracy and three counts of harboring or aiding a felon. Hobbs allegedly obtained firearms on June 27 1999 knowing they were stolen and conspired to receive more stolen property. The indictment also accuses him of aiding Lamb Jeremy Serna and Crystal Lester to conceal their felonies to avoid arrest and punishment. Additional indictments include Thomas Montoya Dorren Lopez Veronica Garcia Renee Chavez Joseph Torrez and others on varied charges from drug possession to DUI and shoplifting. Non-Indian painter finds path to art in Gallup
Artist Andrew Buller, 43, struggles to make a living in Gallup known as the Indian Capital of the World. He paints presentational art drawn from life experiences, including recovery from alcoholism and a difficult divorce. After an arrest for DWI two years ago he entered intensive outpatient care at Behavioral Health Services, where counselors Val Upshaw and Jay Azua helped him confront issues, become more assertive, and pursue painting seriously.
