Women own rising share of New Mexico businesses
In Gallup and McKinley County, New Mexico, women own more than 40 percent of businesses, rising from 30.9 percent in 2002. Two charged with fifth DWIs in Thoreau weekend

Navajo Capital Outlay Study At Center Of Senate Impasse
Senator George Mufioz pushed a capital outlay study for Navajo Nation amid three bills stalled in the Senate Indian and Cultural Affairs Committee. Memorial 60 calls for a task force to oversee the capital outlay process and audit 2003 to 2010 spending, noting $64.3 million allocated to 654 projects with 54 percent spent and 21 percent unspent. The Navajo Local Governance Act and the Tribal Infrastructure Act are cited as remedies.

Navajo Nation and New Mexico sign capital outlay agreement
In 2008 the Navajo Nation and New Mexico state Indian Affairs Department signed an agreement for administration review and approval of capital outlay projects. Early in the session Mujoz introduced a measure to let local counties act as fiscal agents for Navajo chapters capital outlays under $500000. SB 238 would recognize Navajo chapters and other tribal governments subgoverned organizations to apply for capital improvement funds. The committee tabled both bills. City seeks applicants for vacant city manager post
