Domenici urges Navajo private sector jobs at summit

U S Senator Pete Domenici told Navajos to seek jobs from private companies rather than government agencies during a speech at a Gallup American Legion convention. He proposed a Navajo economic summit in late July in Tohatchi and Gallup to lure corporate leaders, with more summits planned if the first succeeds.

Passenger dies after two car crash near Gallup

A 21-year-old man, identified as Dwayne Milford, died Sunday at Bernalillo County Medical Center after a two car collision near McDonald’s on West U.S. 66. He had been stabilized at Gallup Indian Medical Center Saturday morning following the crash, which involved liquor, and occurred early Saturday.

Fatal crash near Gallup leaves man dead next day

A two-vehicle collision on U.S. 66 near McDonald's West at about 2 a.m. Saturday killed Milford, hospitalized in critical condition, and later died in Albuquerque. Driver Ben Harrison, 29, Vanderwagen, was arrested for driving while intoxicated and cited for following too closely and no proof of insurance. Police reported extensive damage to Curley’s eastbound car and noted additional weekend theft at Esquire Liquors.
