The ceremony drew 200 business and professional attendees as officials from the city Santa Fe Railroad and State Highway Commission explained park funding and purpose.

Charleston Hospital Strike Ends In Settlement

Some strikers to return by July 1 with raises to start at 1.60 and 2.10 per hour for state hospital staff. Unions concede no recognition and protests had included arrests and violent marches.

Zuni Industrial Park Project Receives EDA Grant
The Zuni area moves forward with an EDA grant covering about 230000 of a 331500 project to build the industrial park. The effort funds water lines storage tank street paving and a sewage lagoon. Woman Hurt as Train Collides With Car in Gallup
In Gallup a 36 year old woman, Mrs Dies Gonzales of 200 East Adams Ave, was left with arm lacerations after her car struck a Santa Fe Railway car at 12 22 yesterday. The vehicle was dragged 65 feet and toppled a fence before hitting a pickup. She was treated at St Marys Hospital. In a separate incident James Marincell owner of the Liberty Bar fired at two intruders at 4 08 am injuring one, Haver Halona, who was taken to Gallup PHS Indian hospital.

Navajo Band Director Fired After Eight Years
Long time Navajo Tribal band director Birley Gardner was terminated by the Navajo Tribe at 5 p.m. He has eight years with the tribe and plans to remain in Window Rock area, owning a cella. Officials indicated a band member may be promoted to take his place and Gardner had trained 59 young Navajos. The band has performed widely including Boston and Portland, and Gardner helped recruit and train replacements as members moved on to university or marriage.
