Services for Mrs. Amozbah Bowman 89 of Tohatchi will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Tohatchi Christian Reformed Church with burial in Tohatchi Cemetery. She died Sunday night at her home near Tohatchi and is survived by two daughters Rose Begay and Matilda Arviso five sons Alfred Arthur Peter Robert and Babe Bowman 32 grandchildren 156 great grandchildren. The body is at the Follie Mortuary.
New Mexico Health Department dusting operation shifts to Gallup next week to target fleas as plague carriers. Two delivery units will cover 300 to 500 acres daily, aiding control after plague cases in the Gallup area. An additional $50,000 appropriation was approved for county plague work.
About 30 residents including mothers and babies staged a drip-in at Hoboken police headquarters to free a 17-year-old who turned on a fire hydrant on a record warm night. Police arrested him for the hydrant incident, but the crowd demanded his release and the desk sergeant released him.

Wilson Gray Wesley Gray and James L Franks received up to six years each in a federal youth correctional institution after being convicted by a jury. The offense occurred as the victim slept in her quarters at Dinnehouse.
A strong quake rattled central California causing minor damage and a few injuries. The shake centered near Parkfield with after effects reported in Coalinga and Priest Valley, while plaster cracked at San Luis Obispo police station and a chimney fell on a Parkfield house.
