Navajo President Peterson Zah presented Friday a new home certificate and keys to Katherine Wayne and her son Austin Wayne in Tse Bonito New Mexico. The two bedroom home built by the Navajo Housing Service Department includes a wheelchair ramp and accessible bathroom. The Wayne residence, funded by multiple grants, is part of a program to provide free homes to low income families who meet income and chapter recommendations.

Record heat wave eases as New Mexico cools
The National Weather Service warned of continued heat with near record highs in southern New Mexico and slightly cooler readings in the north. Temperatures spiked to 113 in Las Cruces area and 112 in Deming, with Roswell at 111.
