Zuni gets new portable sawmill to boost furniture output
Zuni Furniture Enterprise will receive a portable sawmill next month funded by an 18000 grant from the U.S. Forest Service and tribal funds. Factory Manager Roberto Sandoval says the mill will help harvest timber from 7000 acres of forest and create local jobs. Production should start by end of July using ponderosa pine juniper cedar and even sagebrush wood for carved fetishes and furniture. The Zuni forest also contains pinon pines which will be used once the mill operates.

Tuba City names new Hopi principal Hopi
LeRoy Shingoitewa, longtime educator and Moenkopi resident, was offered a contract Thursday as principal of Tuba City High School. He has previously led Hotevilla Bacavi and Mogniop Day schools and earned recognition as a 1991 Points of Light volunteer.

Licensing hearing set for alcohol and drug counselors
