The Navajo Nation Ethics and Rules Committee dismissed the ethics complaint against Miss Navajo Nation Tina James for alleged overcharging. The case was dismissed without prejudice due to improper notice to James or her attorney, allowing refiling. Prosecutor Robert French questioned the process while James claimed she did not know of the hearing. John Chapela, her attorney, said he informed James but could not proceed without her presence.

Officials say the July 2 ceremony would be first ever in a non English oath though the oath itself will be in English and no law or extra cost blocks other languages.
