A freight liner sideswiped a parked GMC World Van truck near the Indian Village turnoff east of Gallup injuring Richard Dale Wilba of Tulare Calif with a broken neck and leg injuries. The liner carried six horses from Gem State Stables. five were moved to Navajo Shopping Center. Dailey cited for not using due care.
Barbara and Vernon Elfbrandt signed a simple loyalty pledge to end a five year fight against Arizona's loyalty oath. Their action clears the way for more than $60,000 in back pay from school boards in Tucson District One and Amphitheater District. They may file suit to recover funds withheld while working unpaid. The U S Supreme Court ruled the oath unconstitutional in April, while the state high court stayed its effect.

John Thomas Horrocks 87 died in Denver Colorado Tuesday night. He had lived there with his son John V. Horrocks for ten years. Born in Massachusetts he began work in the Gallup coal mines in 1916. He is survived by his son and three grandchildren. Services set for Saturday at 2 p.m. at Rollie Mortuary.

Navajo Tribal Council candidate Samuel Billison spoke to Crownpoint leaders about a proposed all weather highway to Farmington via State Road 56 linking to U.S. 66.
