Timing concerns muffled by session in McCabe case

In Window Rock Arizona a motion for a temporary restraining order to block a Navajo Tribal Council special session to remove Chief Justice Jerome McCabe will be heard after the session. The 8 a.m. July 3 hearing in Window Rock District Court comes as McCabe also faces a pre trial motion in Tuba City District Court. McCabe’s lawyer argues the scheduling conflict prevents two hearings in one day, while opponents say a fair hearing before the Tribal Council must be preserved. The case also involves other Judicial Branch employees and questions of speedy trial rights.
