A bucking horse nears the stock pen as the Red Rock stables host a fulltime boarder. Buster Webb Rodeo Company provides stock for the 32nd annual Lions Club Rodeo starting tonight with western dances Friday and Saturday, a rodeo queen contest, barbecue and a downtown parade scheduled for Saturday.
The New Mexico Court of Appeals hears Ramah Navajo School Board and Lembke Construction argue over gross receipts tax on materials for a Ramah school complex. Federal law cited, Mescalero precedent debated, Ramah project funded under 1868 Navajo Treaty provisions. The court took the case under advisement.
A 5-year-old boy from Alamo in Socorro County is the state’s third plague patient in 1980. Diagnosed with bubonic plague, he is in satisfactory condition at an Albuquerque hospital.
