Mystery hantavirus outbreak not Navajo tied says CDC
Centers for Disease Control spokesman Bob Howard in Atlanta says the illness infecting about 30 people across New Mexico Arizona Utah is not Navajo related but a hantavirus possibly a new variant. The disease spreads from rodent droppings and is not person to person. Man bound over in stabbing case
In Gallup a 38 year old Ganado man Phil Rios was bound over to District Court on a charge of attempted first degree murder in the June stabbing of Ethaline Showa. A July District Court preliminary hearing will test probable cause and the case timeline includes Rios being found near East Highway 66 and later at Redwood Lodge. Showa, 34, suffered multiple puncture wounds and remains hospitalized but conscious. Rios was identified by witnesses as involved in the incident and was held on a $25,000 bond.
