Former Judge Arledge Shot Dead in Albuquerque
Former district court judge and New Mexico legislator R. F. Deacon Arledge, 61, was found shot to death Sunday in Albuquerque. A .22 caliber pistol lay near the body. The widow said he complained of sleep trouble and stepped outside before a gunshot. Arledge served as district court judge 1949 to 1954 and in the New Mexico House 1959 to 1964. He later was administrative aide to Sen. Dennis, a former D-N.M. who managed campaigns.

Home Damaged In Trash Fire
A trash fire outside Dorothy Kinsella’s home at 303 E Mesa damaged the exterior Saturday around noon with estimated losses of 600 dollars. Firefighters spent about 30 minutes at the scene and cited children playing with matches as a possible cause. A separate call to Central Motors at 12 50 p.m. reported a trash fire with no damage. A wagon owned by John Scoopmire at 104 Elizabeth Drive sustained about 50 dollars in damage from a fire at 9 p.m. caused by wiring in the motor.

Girl killed near home by father's panel truck in Gallup
A Gallup girl Ann Marie Ortiz 406 W Lincoln died after a panel truck ran over her head in the front yard. Her father Joe Felix Ortiz Jr 25 said he started to drive away not realizing she followed and the right rear wheel passed over her. The accident happened at 2 45 p m near their home. Services will be held Tuesday at 1 a m in Route Mortuary. The girl is survived by her parents and sister Lori Ellen Ortiz plus paternal grandparents. Continued on page eight.
