President Johnson mourns the death of his frisky beagle Him at the White House. The dog chased a squirrel across the driveway and was struck by a car, dying after the accident. Lynda Johnson announced the tragedy during a meeting with congressmen.
A tractor-trailer driven by Dave Henry Jr. of Vidalie La. overturned on U.S. 66 near the New Mexico Arizona line, injuring Henry with back and head injuries. The truck, owned by B E Mercer Trucking Co., sustained $3,000 damage. Henry regained good condition at St. Mary's hospital.
In Chicago the Northwest Side saw tight police control and no new arrests after Arcellis Cruz, 20, was shot by crowds following his prior arrest. Cruz was released from hospital on a $5,000 bond raised by Puerto Rican groups. Police dispersed gatherings as rain and cool weather persisted.
Miami AP report cites exiles alleging the Castro regime executes political prisoners in Havana La Cabana fortress. They claim prisoners are bled before shooting with about seven pints drawn per person, and 166 executions were carried out last May 27. Dr Miguel Angel Olba Benito, secretary general of the Commission for Humane Treatment for Political Prisoners in Cuba, presented the account at an exile meeting.
A lease proposal for a private hangar at the airport by Jon Danoff and Don Tanner and their contractor Bob Landoll was to be recommended to the city council on June 21 after air port committee discussion. The plan relies on transferring complete airport control to the city, with a caveat that the hangar may be moved if Frontier Airlines DC3s need the taxiway.
CAPE KENNEDY Fla AP eight satellites including seven to relay secret military messages rode a Titan 3 rocket on its fourth test flight. The launch aimed to place satellites into 103 to 115 mile orbits to form a ram proof military network linking Washington Saigon and other strategic points. Ground terminals around the world were ready to relay traffic while engineers tested gravity stabilization arms and future civilian use was not planned.
Severe thunderstorms with 70 mph winds battered Oklahoma and nearby areas in Texas and Arkansas. Roof damage trees down and power outages were reported in Oklahoma City as heavy rain and hail accompanied the storm. Lighter storms moved into Missouri and the upper Ohio Valley while the Southwest and central states cleared.

Scattered thundershowers and higher humidity slowed a six day brush and timber fire in Los Padres National Forest. Eight of more than 2,500 firefighters were injured as containment neared 50 percent of the 100 mile perimeter. Evacuation alerts remained in effect near the fire zone.
