Gallup whistleblower recalls suit against school board

Navajo leader to request leniency for House in fatal crash

Navajo President Albert Hale plans to write a letter asking Judge James Blackmer to place Gordon House on probation and allow community service following his conviction for four counts of vehicular homicide related to the Christmas Eve 1992 crash that killed Melanie Cravens and her two daughters. Sentencing is set for July 24 in Albuquerque. max penalty 26 years.

Coordinator selected for regional juvenile facility

Andrea Egger reports at the Gallup meeting the county approved Bob Bass of Thoreau as full-time project coordinator for the Regional Juvenile Detention Center. The center brings youths from McKinley, Cibola and San Juan counties as a pilot project and Bass will aid the Northwest New Mexico Council of Governments and the county. A joint San Juan and McKinley meeting is planned for 3 p.m. June 21 in Farmington.

Official visits Navajo water project on Friday

Reclamation Commissioner Daniel Beard will visit the Navajo Solar Water Pumping and Water Treatment Project near Gallup with Native American Affairs Director Joe Miller and Navajo Nation representatives. He notes the aim to boost water resource management and tribal capabilities while addressing Indian water rights disputes and providing clean water for Native Americans.
