Three Die In Head-On Collision Near Gallup New Mexico
A head-on crash on NM 264 nine miles east of the Arizona line killed Nelson Benally from Window Rock and Thomas Lee and Andy Lee of St. Michaels. Two other St. Michaels youths and a third man were injured and treated.

U.S. Rep. Harold Runnels says the FAA approved an airport development grant to Gallup for refurbishing Senator Clarke Field. If accepted, Gallup would receive $555,053 with $407,150 in year one and $147,903 from FY 80 funds. The project funds 84.29 percent of costs for Runway 6-24 rehabilitation, lighting, shelters, drainage, and fencing. Local funds total $655,053 after $75,000 from the city and $25,000 from McKinley County.
