Zuni Fire Crews Fight Early Forest Fires in Region

Each twenty-person crew averages about 190 dollars per hour in salaries, equating to roughly 2,850 dollars per day and 22,800 dollars daily economic impact across eight crews. Seasonal earnings for crews range from 250,000 to 1 million dollars depending on fires and duration, providing a significant boost to the Zuni economy.

Gallup Lions Club Rodeo Kicks Off With Barbecue
The 46th Gallup Lions Club Rodeo begins this week with a barbecue at Fourth Street and Coal Avenue from 5 p.m. to about 9 p.m. Three live bands will perform and meats such as beef will be served with sides. About 1,300 pounds of beef are in the pits at Red Rock State Park. The amateur rodeo runs Wednesday through Saturday at RASP with bullfighting and wild horse races added. Children under 12 enter free on Wednesday, and Family and Senior Citizens Night is Thursday with discount tickets. Advance tickets cost $5 for adults and $3 for children. at the gate 6 and 4 respectively. The rodeo expects roughly 120 more participants than last year.
