Four killed and many injured in weekend Gallup area crashes
Police report multiple traffic accidents around Gallup from Friday night into Sunday. A Gallup man lost a leg in a one vehicle wreck west of Zuni Village. Felicita Chavez 23 of Church Rock and Lance Sansiya 27 died of apparent internal injuries. Diane Bellgon 16, Adrian Cellicion 6, and Chad Jose 7 months died after being struck by a car near East 66 Avenue and Vera Drive. Keith Begaye of Gallup was jailed for driving while intoxicated. Other crashes injured Kathy Bitsilly 23 and Preston Johnson 26. One head‑on collision on NM 32 near Thoreau injured Robert McKlendon 25. driver Richard Magnum 34 and Beverly Magnum 40 of Pampa, Texas were not injured. Police noted an unlicensed trailer caused Johnson’s injuries on South Third Street.
