Art N. Russell of Miami, Florida, was found early this morning lying in a bloodied sidewalk pool in front of El Coronado Motel on U.S. 66 East. He received head, chin, and eye injuries at St. Mary's hospital. police report he did not know what happened. In related incidents a Dairy Queen plate glass window, valued at 200, was broken Monday morning with beer bottle fragments found nearby. A rear car window at Mrs. James Short's Hawaiian Trailer Court vehicle was smashed Monday night at the Trailways Bus Depot, with damages estimated at 100.

The Associated Press reports seven deaths from a severe storm system stretching from the Great Lakes to Texas. Seven boys, two sets of brothers, drowned near Shreveport Louisiana when a 12 foot fishing boat overturned on Caddo Lake during a sudden downpour. Two others died in a drainage ditch. Nearly three inches of rain fell in an hour at George West Texas.
