Navajo Nation Council reapportionment plan approved

WINDOW ROCK The Navajo Board of Election Supervisors unanimously approved a 24 member Council reapportionment plan. The board also extended the candidate filing deadline to Monday at 5 p.m. after a plan detailing represented chapters was approved less than five hours before the prior deadline. The Supreme Court had set filing for June 1 and a June 18 board approval deadline. President Joe Shirley described the plan based on January public hearings.
