A 22 year old Navajo woman died in New Mexico after five hours in Farmington hospital before transfer to University Hospital in Albuquerque where ribavirin was available. Officials say the drug is the best hope against a suspected rodent borne illness linked to multiple deaths across four states. The patient arrived at San Juan Regional Medical Center at 9 a.m. and was flown to Albuquerque by helicopter by 2 p.m. She was pronounced dead at 5:40 p.m. Officials have not confirmed if ribavirin was administered.
