Gallup names Lewis mayor to fill vacant office
Gallup City Council unanimously selected Wayne Lewis to complete the unexpired mayoral term after the death of Mayor Edward Junker. Dock Livingston was named to replace Lewis on the council. Swearing in is set for the next council meeting. Lewis, 51, is a plumbing contractor and longtime Gallup resident with a record in local business and civic groups. Junker’s funeral attracted about 800 mourners, with remarks from Bishop Jerome Hastrich and other officials.
