Kenneth Eugene Jacobs 22 of 311 N Sixth was shot to death in Gallup early Sunday. Services set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rollie Mortuary with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery. He formerly played basketball and football at Gallup High School and attended Garden City Junior College. Survived by parents Mr and Mrs Tommy Mims and sister Geraldine Mims. Pallbearers listed. honorary pallbearer Malachi Bert.

Arthur Goodluck aged 28 from Lupton Arizona died Monday afternoon in Judge Edward G. Romero's courtroom while awaiting arraignment on DUI and no operator's license charges. He collapsed after arrest on U.S. 66 West Sunday at 3 p.m. and had been treated at PHS Hospital before returning to jail.
In Canjilon New Mexico National Guardsmen aided by light tanks machine guns and about 80 officers pursue Reles Lopez Tij erina and followers after they shot the Rio Arriba County courthouse and took hostages. Two officers wounded about 20 held and a district judge barricaded in his chambers. Several arrests and injuries reported among locals amid a long running land grant dispute.
Gallup McKinley Schools approved several resignations and promotions at Monday night’s board meeting. Key moves include Alex Krivokapich shifting to maintenance, Don Stokes becoming elementary supervisor, Lloyd Yandel named secondary schools supervisor, Cris DiGregorio as physical education and athletic coordinator, and Dr. Harold L. Woods resigning as director of instruction./read as a broad staff realignment with multiple retirements and new assignments across Lincoln Crownpoint Gallup Zuni and Roosevelt facilities.
A Standing Rock man died and six others were injured Monday night in two crashes within a half mile on U S 666 north of Gallup. Amos Billy, 26, was killed. Alice Greyhat, 48, was listed in poor condition at PHS Hospital. Others injured included Monte Billy 28 Dan Griffith 39 and Andrew Velarde 27 all Standing Rock or Dulce residents. One driver remained unknown after leaving the scene.
Police identify a car linked to Kenneth Eugene Jacobs shooting in Gallup. The vehicle was found by Marlin Morehouse and Sgt. Lou Barraza at Fourth and Wilson. two witnesses confirmed it as the slaying car. No arrests. investigation ongoing. Another family murder occurred in Winslow, arousing further police activity.
McKinley County Sheriff Wen dle Merrill says Don Hill 40 of Gallup was arrested in Moab Utah on a local warrant for car theft. Hill faces aggravated assault and battery charges upon return. The June 2 theft involved Whiting Brothers Station and followed a beating of Louis Archuleta 40 in Coal Basin area. Archuleta was treated and released from St Marys Hospital. Hill is a native of Oklahoma living in the Gallup area for about six months.
